Big dreams and even bigger goals. That is what actors have when they first enter the film industry. However, becoming an A-List star in the industry is not always easy.

The film industry is massive, and it has always been notoriously difficult to break into. Millions of people aspire to be movie stars, including many famous actors and actresses. So, how do you increase your visibility as an actor? It may appear to be an impossible task, but it is not. There is no reason why you cannot become a famous actor if you have talent, commitment, and determination, as well as the right attitude to succeed. BUT IS THAT ENOUGH!?

Many famous actors you know had their own struggles in the past, but these stars never gave up on their dreams and are now among the most famous faces to grace the silver screen.

Let’s look at Samuel L Jackson’s life story.

Today, he’s one of our favorite actors, but Jackson struggled for the first 40 years of his life to make it big in Hollywood. It wasn’t until his iconic role in Pulp Fiction in 1994 (when Jackson was 45) that his talents were finally showcased to a wider audience.

Well, You don’t have to wait 40 years; all you need are the right tips and strategies.

Fortunately, We are here to help you grow, but first and foremost, you must work on yourself and ensure that you are doing everything possible to increase your visibility as an actor. Let’s get started with the tips and techniques listed below to get you started.

1. Dare to be Different.

You’re not getting noticed as an actor because you’re doing the same thing everyone else is doing. What distinguishes you from everyone else is how well you do it.

If you want to be noticed as an actor, figure out what makes you unique and then practice it until it becomes second nature. If you do this well enough, it will set you apart from the crowd and draw attention to your talent. Take for example Lateef Adedimeji, his unique trait as an Actor is the Igbo accent thing he does. He started getting well noticed and gained industry relevance as a result. Of course, coupled with his great acting delivery.

2. Create a portfolio that highlights your skills and experience.

If you have any acting experience under your belt (or if you’re just starting out), include it in your portfolio! If there is something distinctive about your work that distinguishes it from that of other actors, please include it in your portfolio so that potential casting directors can see how unique you are in comparison to others in the industry. Ensure that your acting portfolio includes your Filmography. This is a great way to show that you have starred in movies.

3. Have an online presence.

Online presence is the new visibility in our world today. Social media has changed the way we live. It’s no longer an option to have an online presence, but a necessity. According to Internet World Stats, there are more than 5.47 billion active internet users worldwide as of June 30, 2022, accounting for approximately 66% of the total population. Consider how many opportunities will be available on the internet when we have this many people.

Take a look at how the internet has created new career paths for creatives like brand influencing and skit-making. All this was made possible thanks to the internet and how these set of creatives were able to leverage it to their advantage. They used it to create content that showed their unique talents and creativity and as a result, they got to reach a large number of people and gain visibility. Many of our favorite actors in the industry, including Bimbo Ademoye, Kunle Remi, Iyabo Ojo, and others, have jumped on the skit-making and miming trend on Tiktok because it is a great way for them to stay relevant, share their work without having to pay for advertising or build up a following, not to mention win tons of ambassadorial deals.

So dear actor, your online presence is an important part of establishing your reputation as an actor. Why? Because if people can’t find you, they won’t hire you. And if they don’t hire you, they don’t need to know about your work — so they won’t be able to see what a talented actor you are! It raises awareness of your work, increasing the likelihood that you will be cast in a role. Not only that, but if someone likes what they see in your reel or hears about your acting skills on social media, they might want to work with you!

4. Get involved with the acting community.

Getting involved with the acting community by attending workshops, events, and classes, as well as connecting with other actors as a network of like-minds helps to foster growth. They can provide you with valuable information and support, allowing you to advance as an actor.

Do you want to be a part of an acting community? Begin with Cast.i.ng; we’ll be hosting an online workshop on how to increase your visibility as an actor soon. This workshop will be led by Biodun Stephen, one of Nollywood’s most influential directors.

To sum it up, no actor on the planet wants to be a nobody. Every actor aspires to be a star. That is why visibility is so important. The more visible you are, the more likely you are to be remembered. And the more you are remembered, the more likely you are to be hired. As an actor, you must distinguish yourself. Make any effort necessary to get your face and name in front of producers and directors. The more visible you are, the more likely you are to achieve stardom.
